Written inside a German-language letter that is being sold by Bloomsbury Auctions in Mayfair are some very interesting quotes by the famous scientist Albert Einstein.
“The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. “No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this”
“For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions.” “And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people.”
In the past historians have used quotes of his like: “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind” - to show that Albert Einstein did believe in religion but this new infomration seems to over-trump it.
Not really shocking from a man who followed the high-power of science his entire life but it is interesting to hear what a die-hard atheist he appeared to be.
